A Defense of the Traditional Authorship of the Gospels
Abstract: The traditional authorship of the Gospels has been a subject of scholarly debate for centuries. This paper aims to defend the traditional view that the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were indeed written by the individuals to whom they are attributed. By examining historical evidence, early church testimonies, and internal textual analysis, this paper seeks to demonstrate the credibility and authenticity of the traditional authorship claims. The significance of this defense lies in its implications for the reliability of the New Testament as a historical document and its foundational role in Christian theology. Through a comprehensive analysis of both supporting and opposing arguments, this paper provides a robust defense of the traditional authorship of the Gospels.
